The Anouki show invitation this season was charming—a pamphlet based off of old Georgian women’s newsletters. It included the collection’s inspiration (the ’70s and ’80s), beauty tips (a full vintage guide on how to care for one’s lips), and a location explanation (it was held at the city’s newest hotel, Stamba.) Designer Ana Areshidze, who is wife of the city’s mayor, is thinking a little differently than in prior seasons. This was evident not just in that pamphlet, but in the clothes, too. Areshidze swapped gratuitous embellishments for a focus on cut and print.
A nice example of the collection’s new, sophisticated point of view was a floral print blouse with puffed sleeves. Elsewhere, a trench coated in silver paillettes was overwhelming, but a double-breasted dress with an off-the-shoulder collar of sequins looked just right.
