Svetlana Bevza’s post-Soviet aesthetic is more polished than most. This season, she used a lot of denim—a rare commodity during the Soviet Union, and one that was boiled in order to make it fit better, with blotchy, light blue results. The pattern appeared on oversize coats, but it looked best on a big-shouldered blouse paired with a short black skirt.
The accessories were standouts. Bevza made shiny black lacquered bags that looked like elevated versions of the shopping packets once used and saved by women after the fall of the USSR. The shoes seemed straight out of a Soviet-era magazine, but could fit quirkily into 2017 just as well.
