Known for: Clean unisex clothes with clever details, from bow-tied shirts to tailored jackets embellished with charms and graphics
Spring 2017 inspiration: The starting point for Blindness this season was The Danish Girl; yet more than a play on gender, the clothes were meant to evoke “an elegant man.” “Normal menswear is too manly,” designers Shin and Park explained before the show. “We wanted to show that men can dress dreamily and prettily, too, but in a modern way.”
That meant more of the brand’s signature bow-tied shirting, done in ruffled apricot, and neatly cropped pants and trenchcoats trimmed in grommets and strung with pearls. “We modified women’s corsets for silhouettes,” Shin said, gesturing toward one black studded version tightly cinching a standout pink puffer coat. “We are unisex, but more than genderless dressing, we want to break boundaries with our clothes,” Park added. In fact, it felt like a breakout moment, and judging by the pack of international editors who fought their way backstage, it’s only the start.
