Designer Sally LaPointe’s latest collection (which she described as a sister collection to and an extension of resort) pushed her message of “offering a total reset, in mind and energy,” even further for spring. Through a vibrant, bold palette — lime, fern, cloud, terra-cotta (grounded by cream and stone) — and innovative fabrications, LaPointe continued to infuse the ideas of optimism and fun into her luxe styles.
The look: Energetic fashions to celebrate nightlife revival.
Quote of note: “My main point to spring was a f–king shock to the system,” LaPointe remarked during the resort and spring collections’ showroom walk-through back in June. “Thinking about when this is going to be out, thinking about what life is going to be like then. The inspiration literally is post-COVID-19 rave, so we literally had a rave for the photo shoot. The music was so loud my ears were ringing at night! The glow and smoke-filled room and color story all came from the idea of Glo. Rave, but make it chicer.”
Key pieces: Signature tailored fashions, reinvigorated with utilitarian details (cargo pockets, drawstrings) and sporty-meets-raver fabrications (transparent vinyl and organza, metallic nylon, shirred and draped mesh and more); harness accessories. Compact ribbed knits were overall strong for spring.
The takeaway: The energy of LaPointe’s collection emphasized the importance of feel-good fashions and offered a lot of fun through uncomplicated, wearable styles.
