Earlier this year Asger Juel Larsen’s studio was struck by a fire which destroyed his archive. That nightmare yielded an equally fiery rebirth though, a quietly Western-inflected, grungey Spring lineup, chock-full of bolo ties, studded flannels, and a gleefully tatty velour bowling shirt or two. Graphics are a staple of Larsen’s collections, and here there were plenty: big skull back patches, the words Melancholy is other people, and, most notably, a flaming logo. Larsen continues to be one of the city’s more exciting menswear designers; it’s clear that fire hasn’t slowed him down.
