Reem Acra could not host a presentation this season due to the coronavirus pandemic. In these extenuating circumstances, Vogue Runway has made an exception to its policy and is writing about this collection via photos and remote interviews.
The day Reem Acra closed her atelier in keeping with the coronavirus shutdown, she decided to photograph a model wearing her new bridal collection. The decision would prove fruitful. In the absence of a location shoot Acra enlisted the Scottish artist Portis Wasp to Photoshop the model against an illustrated backdrop of flowers in shocking pinks and purples. According to the designer, she was going for a “dreamy effect.”
Those clicking through the lookbook can see that the contrasting background allows the dresses to stand out. In classic form, Acra gave the traditional a modern allure, cutting a high-necked lace dress with a thigh-high slit. Appealing, but for different reasons, was one of the more modest numbers, an off-the-shoulder dress with the sheeny hue of a freshwater pearl.
