A good mood can be infectious, and Alice Temperley’s was evident in her new bridal collection. With a forthcoming Rizzoli tome dedicated to her brand’s history and her richly detailed aesthetic lining up with fashion’s current mood, Temperley has reason to feel upbeat—but her vision for bridal is as unorthodox as ever. For Fall ’18, she revisited her bohemian spirit with layers of engineered lace and bell-sleeved dresses that begged to be worn with flower crowns and bare feet. Camellia and forget-me-not appliqués added to the luxe garden-party vibe.
Of course, bridal season isn’t just for rich hippies. Temperley showed a range of other options, from ’30s bias-cut dresses with a touch of Old Hollywood glamour to full-skirted ball gowns with flowing trains for the traditional bride. In keeping with the season’s focus on pieces that can carry from rehearsal dinner to after-party, there were even a few relaxed, more casual gowns. But the true showstopper was the long-sleeved opening look, which came with splashes of pink embroidery from veil to toe.
