Reem Acra described the starting point for her Spring ’17 bridal collection as “where the trend begins and the tradition continues.” The gowns were traditional in a lot of ways—the lace, the all-white palette, the tulle bustles—but Acra experimented with some of-the-moment notions, too, like off-the-shoulder silhouettes and lace-up detailing in the back.
As the models walked out, the dresses seemed to get bigger and bigger, ending with a finale of bright-white gowns with billowing ruffles. The brides who wear them will no doubt need a second dress for the reception—some cars may not even be able to accommodate all that tulle. The “trendier” options were slinky and curve-hugging, but minimalists should look elsewhere: Every dress in the bunch had some sort of rich embellishment, from sequined lace to hand-stitched pearls.
