“She likes to have fun” is how Alice McCall describes her customer. That fun-loving girl will have a lot to choose from in McCall’s new Resort collection. From the “mid-century modern” knits in prim minidresses to the Lurex-shot, vaguely ’80s separates in bright pink and shimmering lilac, there are plenty of flitty, pretty little things to carry a young woman from her prom to her wedding in McCall’s latest.
It’s hard to ignore the of-the-moment spirit of McCall’s offering; many of the details, from a pouf sleeve to a bold upholstery floral feel pulled from what’s trending around the world. Still, a quaint set of ruched bloomers made for a surprise. McCall’s strength is her ability to take difficult trends and remake them with her signature loveliness.
