You can’t go on an Instagram Story spree without catching a glimpse of Adam Selman Sports’s leopard-print leggings or cropped hoodies these days. Lockdown life has made his workoutwear both an essential (solid black French-cut leggings) and a treat (sheer hot pink French-cut leggings). The success of his “shred to bed” pieces has helped him expand into sleepwear and swimwear. Now, he’s thinking lifestyle.
Fall 2021 is his most fully realized range of pieces under the Adam Selman Sport label yet. The playful gym clothes remain, now in watercolor leopard spots, sky blue, and a custom knit jacquard, but now he’s also moving into ready-to-wear. Cropped bombers are light and airy, slinky knit sets in a wavy design evoke a day of lounging, and the hook-and-eye crop tops have It Girl appeal. With each season and drop, I’m surprised by how seamlessly he’s expanded his world. Where will Adam go next? Sitting in his new Garment District studio the ideas were flowing, all confidential for now, but waiting on the horizon. Suffice to say life is about to get even more A.S.S.’ed.
