You can count on L’Agence for great jeans, a perfect white T-shirt, and a sharp blazer. Chief executive Jeffrey Rüdes isn’t in the business of changing course from season to season. What the L’Agence design teams—one for denim and one for ready-to-wear—do is tweak the small stuff and make the basics better. For pre-fall, there was more fine-tuning of the details.
Prints played off the tropical, jungle-themed looks we saw come down the spring 2020 runways, and snakeskin and burn-out tie-dyes added depth to the slips and jackets. Jeans were awash in pastels, and tweed short suits rounded out the approachable mix. Rüdes knows his clientele well and continues to give them what they want, with quiet little design surprises here and there.
