Efisio Marras likes indie movies, possibly horror stories with eerie atmospheres. The Blair Witch Project is one of his favorites, and he based his pre-fall collection on it.
The film’s set, a forest populated by ghostly presences where a group of friends get lost among the fall foliage inspired the thick wool geometric jacquards and knitted floral textures of sweaters and rustic waistcoats. Worn with cargo pants or sporty parkas, they were the collection’s best proposition. Yet the young Marras is a romantic at heart (he wouldn’t be Antonio Marras’s son if not). He can’t resist a fancy dress with a swirl of sequins, flouncy ruching, or bows, and he delivered these as well.
Marras addressed sustainability by working on a capsule of upcycled military deadstock and vintage re-assembled into oversized trenches, sporty bombers, and roomy cargo pants. The pieces were fairly priced and looked cool, and Marras felt upbeat about the experiment. Hopefully it will turn into a more consistent offering in the future.
