Cinq à Sept’s flower child is going back to work. Jane Siskin was thinking about her own early years in Manhattan back in the ’70s, so she reworked her signature styles for the modern working girl. Naturally, tailoring became a new focus. She revived the classic two-button suit in cool chambray blue, a color she called “cloudy day.” It had some built-in flair in the form of tight ruffles trimming the sleeves and pants. “Elevating the casual has become really important for us,” she said.
Still, for a brand known for color and print, this season’s palette was relatively subdued and neutral, an embellished floral blazer and bubblegum puffer notwithstanding. “To me, pink is a new neutral,” she smiled. Whether reflecting on her past or focusing on the present, versatility is always top of mind for Siskin. This season, she also zeroed in on creating looks that would transition easily from day to night. (The concept is inherent to the brand’s name, which is French for “five to seven,” that blissful time between work and play.) Throwing an edgy cropped bomber over a more polished look would do the trick, while a fuchsia satin blazer dress might just be powerful enough on its own to take you from desk to dinner and beyond.
