Cary Vaughn and Jenna Wilson had a laugh over the Zoom call they did with Vogue Runway to discuss their new Ace & Jig collection. They chose two of America’s most iconic interior designers, Sister Parish and Dorothy Draper, as muses for fall, and here we all are currently stuck in our homes. Vaughn and Wilson pointed out on the video call that the two decorators were cousins and had overlapping aesthetics that tended toward the maximalist. Parish and Draper layered prints and textures instinctually, much the same way that Vaughn and Wilson create their collections. Ace & Jig’s patterns and palettes are inspired by art and design, but their silhouettes are effortless and uncomplicated.
Using mixed plaids and quilt motifs in pastels and pops of color, the designers once again crafted a very full collection of loose sundresses, oversized jackets and cropped trousers. More is more for Vaughn and Wilson, just like it was for Parish and Draper. Elsewhere, polo shirts and minidresses made using a soft but heavy double gauze fabric looked new, and it was nice to see the designers step away from some of their familiar repertoire.
