Scott Morrison has a few hits under his belt at 3x1, from his signature high-tech “channel-seam” skinnies (which have a slimming panel through the inseam) to the fringed-cuff stovepipes that launched a dozen copycats. The demand for destroyed hems is still huge, but he’s moving on in favor of a cleaner, more polished look. Nearly every jean in his Spring 2019 collection came with a crisp, finished hem—and for those who’ve gotten used to cutting your jeans to the perfect length, put down the scissors! If these are too long, you can get them tailored at 3x1’s store-slash-workshop in Soho, where Morrison’s team sews and alters denim on the spot.
Next spring, the carpenter jean will be 3x1’s must-have—it’s a trend we’ve noticed in other collections, too. Morrison is also sensing a return to slim, full-length boot-cut jeans, and his came with clever slits at the ankles. It’s a gestural touch most people won’t notice until you cross your legs or walk briskly across the street, but those subtle, surprising details can make all the difference to certain women. Another bonus: Those slits mean you can still show off your shoes, something that’s been taken for granted in the past few years of above-the-ankle jeans.
