For Spring, Piazza Sempione’s creative team definitely did a good job. The collection was well edited, with lots of no-fuss-yet-lovely pieces perfect for daywear, consistent in the quality department, and styled with a deft hand to make them modern and desirable. It’s exactly what is expected from Piazza Sempione, a label rooted in elegant practicality with a discreet-yet-dynamic, eye-catching twist, and a molto Milanese fashion pedigree.
Stripes were the collection’s leitmotif, lightly inspired by Josef Albers’s artwork. They were rendered in every iteration possible: sailing-inspired in white and blue, with beachy vibes in red and white; in white and grey, they referenced vintage mattresses slipcovers and looked quite chic. Shapes were kept simple and given an urban flair, which is exactly what the label stands for. Pajama-inspired pantsuits were particularly appealing, softly tailored and comfortable. A few dresses looked feminine with pleated, over-the-knee skirts and gently cinched waists. High-quality detailing like contrasting stitching or piping was a graphic substitute for decoration, and fabrics were all selected with utmost care, obliging to made-in-Italy high standards.
