Sandro makes solid clothes; this much is known, and proven, season after season. For Fall, the label’s menswear specialist Ilan Chétrite subtly upped the ante, presenting a thought-through wardrobe that fused, again with subtlety, the hardened streetwear trends of today with the softer, easier bourgeois flair of the ’70s. To that latter point, he even semi-re-created the character Benjamin Braddock’s look from The Graduate, in the form of a brown velvet jumbo corduroy suit.
Corduroy, as it happens, anchored the presentation—it looked best on a duffle coat, its lines enlarged and its touch softened. Straight-leg jeans and fanny packs with sportive logos that were styled with horizontally knit jersey sweaters (as opposed to the usual up-and-down construction) in tightly edited, muted colors further mixed Chétrite’s intentions.
To mention, though not yet available to see: After Fall’s delivery, Sandro will drop a Helly Hansen collaboration. Look out for the latter’s classic puffer, but upgraded with the former’s eye for casual sophistication. It’s done in black leather.
