Piazza Sempione has gone through quite a few changes during its history. Founded in 1991, the brand developed a kind of cult following among the well-dressed yet cool Milanese fashion milieux. A minimalist, practical, and elegant look is what it has always stood for. Today's presentation, staged in a leafy courtyard of a Milanese palazzo, confirmed that. Still, the line has fashion potential.
Pants, its forte, were at the foundation of the collection; they came in a variety of styles, from slim to palazzo, and were paired with tops that ranged from oversize shirts to clean-cut tunics. Fabrics stood out: Linens, silks, and impalpable wools gave a crisp, neat look to light jackets cinched at the waist by stitched obi belts. The color palette had a fresh vibe, and neutral shades added to the summery feel. The silhouettes were modern with a play on volume that kept the offering of the moment. It was a promising start for a more consistent future offering, which apparently is in the cards.
