Misha Nonoo is on a mission to make life easier for her customers. She gives them what they want, when they want it, with her see-now-buy-now business, and she makes herself available to them on her website’s “Ask Misha” function. Practicality, transparency, and versatility have become the building blocks of Nonoo’s brand and her latest offering is a strong, stylish testament to that fact. During the Pre-Fall fashion schedule, Nonoo showed her Spring 2017 line alongside a debut capsule called The Easy Eight (a nod, perhaps, to Donna Karan’s career-making Seven Easy Pieces of the ’80s). As its name suggests, the new collection is meant to aid a busy woman in her busy life by giving her an edit of eight pieces that can be styled into a whopping 22 different looks. The collection was culled together from standout items in the archive and the current Spring line and includes one of each: jumpsuit, dress, skirt, pants, turtleneck sweater, sleeveless shirt, button-down shirt, and blazer. Price points are accessible, starting at $95 and going up to $695.
For all of its utilitarianism, The Easy Eight packs a lot of beautiful tailoring and sophisticated silhouettes into its lineup of wearable basics. The same can be said of the Spring 2017 pieces, which follow the “day to play” model, as Nonoo calls it, of the capsule collection, but with a touch more pop. There are mod-inspired layering pieces, like a knit turtleneck with stitch detail on the arm worn underneath a cute, low-cut crepe minidress. For separates, Nonoo designed nice-looking wide-leg, high-waist white jeans; retro striped knit polo shirts; and button-downs with a navy grosgrain ribbon hidden under the sleeve cuff. There’s also a crop top, one that the designer effortlessly elevates by styling it over a shirtdress and trouser. As she explains, “Everything in the collection can be worn at least three different ways, if need be. I know myself and if I can only wear something one way, it’s just too specific—it has to earn its place in your closet.”
