Alberta Ferretti owns a Russian icebreaker turned private yacht she calls Prometheus. She probably has a long summer holiday to look forward to on its decks. The maritime theme she explored in her new collection is a familiar, even obvious, one during the Resort season, but it’s close to Ferretti’s heart and she handled it elegantly.
On her runways in Milan, Ferretti tends to favor the frothy evening looks that she’s most famous for, so her Resort collections tend to feel more daywear-focused. But there’s a reason she’s got a reputation for red carpet fare, even her sportswear tends to have a little something extra. Her marinière knits, for example, were almost all trimmed in lace that looked handmade, and a navy knit jersey dress was finished with a gilt belt buckle.
As for evening options, there were many and they ranged from a gown in a bold gold and black jacquard meant to evoke the midnight sun to a softer, more romantic series of short, medium, and long numbers in a painterly undersea print available in dusty blue and pale aqua. Sadly, the Prometheus is not included in the price of the dress.
