Heading down the primrose path? Hardly, but for Resort, 6397 founder Stella Ishii and her team did tap into a bit of the same flower power that informed their Spring lineup. They were particularly taken by roses—so ubiquitous, and available at every bodega on the block, that their beauty is often overlooked. Here they turned up as a graphic on the brand’s pitch-perfect draped tees, as a burnout pattern, and even as a color in pieces like a petal-pink, featherweight cashmere raglan. The collection struck a keen balance between the label’s boyish and sophisticated sides—though, as one member of the 6397 crew put it, they did “step up the sexy game here.” To wit, easy silhouettes like a slip whipped up in the matte side of black satin, and trimmed in the glossy side, or a rash guard–inspired ponte dress. Even their signature slouchy suit jacket got revamped in a gauzy, semi-sheer tropical wool; in keeping with the team’s more perfectionist leanings, it took them nearly two years to find precisely the right fabrication for that version of the blazer. It will look killer teamed with the newest addition to the line’s denim core, the polished, cropped Mini Trouser.
