Ease is the operative word for Jason Wu’s Pre-Fall collection over at his signature label, and the same goes for his latest collection for Boss. Dresses that aren’t accompanied by spiffy white trainers are paired with black patent loafers. Not even the single gown—a long ruffled tank dress in millennial pink—gets the heel treatment. This is in keeping with his Spring runway show for the brand. Throughout his years at the German company, Wu has tweaked his formula: He started off with strict tailoring in sedate neutrals, then experimented with red carpet fare, and has lately settled into a business casual groove, with a lineup that encompasses mix-and-match separates, pleated knee-length dresses, and an embrace of knits. The interest comes from his use of color: In addition to that millennial pink, he’s got buttery yellow and brick red this season.
If the lookbook pics are any indication, handbags are becoming a bigger part of the Boss puzzle. Here, too, the emphasis is on practicality; see the generously proportioned tote that accessorizes several of the looks.
