Without a doubt the most shocking aspect of Dsquared²'s Resort lineup? The lack of shock factor. Not that that's what the Caten twins are known for, per se, but on the heels of the multiculti maximalism seen on their Spring '16 menswear and Fall '15 women's runways, here was an offering that surprised with both its commercial appeal and relatively quotidian styling. Hardly a look in the bunch was too outré to wear out to dinner (well, perhaps the flounced scuba mini teamed with a cargo jacket and turtleneck, depending on your particular proclivities).
Surfing inspired the men's clothes—here, that vibe came to life in tropical prints and techy fabrics. Mock necks nodded to rash guards, while a standout patchworked suede skirt and jacket had a kind of quietly crafty-by-way-of-Venice-Beach appeal to it. Evening options were particularly nice, like a color-blocked T-shirt maxi or a plissé gold lamé gown that was pure '70s.
