Giorgio Armani was after a youthful spirit at Emporio Armani this season. The evidence is right there in look 15, a black T-shirt printed with the words, “Emporio’s Girl Power.” That tee was admittedly a bit of an outlier, but the vibe came across in subtler ways across the collection, from the minidress made from narrow strips of black leather at the beginning to the embellished sweatshirt near the end.
When Armani wasn’t using black and white, colors were ultra-bold—see the chartreuse yellow of a shearling chubby and the red of a boyish blazer worn with jeans. Even the accessories—ankle socks with platform sandals, thigh-high tights that flashed a touch of skin below a coatdress—signaled a young energy. But long-time (read: more mature) fans of the brand needn’t worry too much about their Pre-Fall EA fix. The leggy collection had no shortage of outerwear befitting a grown-up lady. Especially good-looking was a double-breasted black coat with an exaggerated white shearling collar.
