The press release distributed by Ports 1961 for its Spring 2015 show described the details found in the collection as both exaggerated and understated, a tricky, self-imposed contradiction that the clothes were always going to have a hard time resolving. Trousers came in two types: oversized and piled up on the model's sneakers to goofy effect, or sharply tailored and elegant. Outerwear was either technical and sleek with taped seams and the right amount of structure, as with the bonded khaki and navy cotton parkas, or flat and unappealing, as with the shapeless, oddly oversize denim jacket. Suits, otherwise flattering, were often disrupted by unusual collarless lapels that attached at the shoulder seams. It's possible that understated and exaggerated can coexist, but this collection was stronger when it stuck to the former.
