Leather has been the emphasis at Cerre from the beginning, but over the past two seasons, self-taught designers Clayton and Flavie Webster have expanded their collections to include more tailored pieces in addition to their best-selling biker jackets. The husband-and-wife duo demonstrated their range with their new Spring lineup, which featured a tranquil color palette inspired by the Websters' travels to the coast of southern France. They whipped up their signature buttery soft jackets (available in three different classic fits) and a versatile backpack in fog blue leather, and also showed a distilled wave print on silk button-ups and pleated schoolgirl-style skirts. There is a detectable Eastern current that runs throughout Cerre's collections. It was evident in several of the streamlined silhouettes (slim midi skirts, sheath dresses that gracefully bloused at the waist, and a sophisticated tuxedo jumpsuit), as well as in the clear standout here, a beautiful black and white kimono gown cut from sumptuous three-ply silk. Surprisingly enough, it was the Websters' first attempt at true eveningwear, and based on its success, we're eager to see them grow and experiment in more categories.
