After assuming the design reins at St. John, Greg Myler clung closely to house codes for his Spring debut and generally played it a little too safe. For pre-fall, he shook things up a bit with a vibrant color palette inspired by artist Dan Flavin's neon light installations. A monochromatic turtleneck tunic and relaxed slacks set was cut in a shocking flame hue, for example, while stretchy sheaths came in flamingo pink or fluoro yellow. Still, it was a black leather moto jacket with knit sleeves and legginglike trousers that felt most modern. On the eveningwear side of the equation, a tuxedo gown covered in allover pewter sequins with satin lapels and a slit made a flashy impact. Hopefully Myler will push himself to go even bolder for Fall.
