"Pre-fall is really about updating our girl's closet and offering what she's buying right now," Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen said at a preview of their new collection for Elizabeth and James. While the design duo is known for taking the concept of subtle, everyday luxury to the next level with The Row, they definitely have a bit more fun with their little-sister line. The loosened-up attitude came across via casually cool pieces, including a bomber jacket in a menswear jacquard with neon trim, as well as blazers cut from another jacquard with a slightly psychedelic, Pop floral pattern. Styling was key. The still-popular crop top is the kind of thing you wouldn't imagine coming from these sisters, but the way they layered it over a crisp white T-shirt and then paired that with a wrap skirt and slim trousers (yes, all shown together) felt fresh. Accessories are an important part of the E and J business, and they were excited to announce the launch of handbags for Fall. Black patent boots with thick white soles and delicate "shaman" rings were the definite standouts.
