The invitation to Moschino Cheap And Chic was a seed packet of radicchio, and the venue was set up like a farmers' market, tables lined with free produce for the taking. Before the show even started, you could guess Rossella Jardini's theme for Spring. She opened with a giant strawberry in the form of a short pinkish red dress embellished with black jet beads and a green bow. It mostly got more subtle from there, with the exception of a raincoat with hot pepper, garlic, and tomato buttons and a crowd-pleasing carrot headpiece that looked like it had stabbed its model in the head and come out on the other side. Apples, corn, green herbs—they all made appearances, but Jardini had flowers on the menu, too. The show's best dress was a thigh-grazer in a lamp shade shape dotted with watercolor irises here and there. With most of the frocks just as abbreviated, this was a collection (both lighthearted and a little light in terms of ideas) for the young. Eat your vegetables, kids.
