Resort found Tory Burch "thinking a lot about Santa Fe and the colors of the southwest." Rusty clay red and turquoise figured prominently, and Justin Giunta, who works with Burch on her collection's jewelry, cast a bit of cactus to make a pendant. A western jones has been sweeping the design world for a season or so already, and Burch is well placed to translate the moment for her vast clientele. When pressed, Burch will admit that she hasn't been to Santa Fe—not yet, at least. But no biggie; the label rarely sticks too literally to its brief. How could it? With 50-plus stores and counting—including its largest yet, on Madison Avenue, opening in time for New York fashion week this fall—all things sportswear to all people is the name of the TB game. Wherever her resorting takes her, the Burch woman can appreciate a color-blocked cotton cardigan, a hammered satin dress, or a flowing caftan in one of her many prints.
