Frank Tell is a relative newbie in the fashion industry and is still learning what sells. His Fall runway featured piles of exotic skins and plush furs that were ultra-luxe but also ultra-expensive. He's discovered that his customer may covet the raw-edged alligator bomber, but she's more likely to buy a tailored shirt, so the young designer was careful to keep his first Resort collection more accessible in terms of pricing. He redid the aforementioned jacket in soft, sueded python to cut costs (snake apparently goes for less than gator) and showed a top-selling draped dress in jersey instead of double-faced wool. While fantastic, fragile knits have been a hallmark for Tell from the start—there was a great T-shirt version here—he also demonstrated a knack for cutting suits.
