Doo-Ri Chung recently stopped by an exhibition of Sonia Delaunay's textile designs at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and was spellbound by a candid snapshot of the artist taking a cigarette break, dressed in her own design. Delaunay's use of color and geometry inspired Chung to use prints more liberally here: A vibrant kaleidoscope pattern appeared on a belted, long-sleeved silk sheath, and a cool, paneled skirt had graphic birds printed down its sides. Of course, the designer also showed her signature, draped jersey dresses. A stunningly simple teal style had a wrap effect and tapered down to a point longer in back. Chung's top-selling trench was terrific this time around with a detachable leather bolero—it stood out in a collection that was twice the size of the designer's previous Resort efforts for Doo.Ri.
