"I didn't reference anything directly, but pulled elements out from my travels," explained Maria Cornejo of her Resort collection. In other words, the designer mostly stuck to her signature architectural yet feminine aesthetic, astutely focusing on updating versions of her now-signature silhouettes.
What kept things fresh? Color. Her classic Contra and Twist Strap dresses popped in vivid shades of clementine and turmeric, and her vivid photo-prints of Istanbul's catacombs added interest to other asymmetrical frocks. Rounding out the collection was a laser-cut leather biker jacket begging to be broken in, draped jodhpurs, and a novel stretch silk georgette tunic with an askew collar that struck just the right balance between urban and ethnic.
