Doo-Ri Chung is a wiz when it comes to draping, and she showed a tight pre-fall collection that played to her strength. A long-sleeved, to-the-knee sheath suitable for the office featured the same asymmetrical swathing as a pewter minidress that would fit right in at the Boom Boom Room. Chung stuck to her go-to palette of neutrals, with an emphasis on gray, which she hinted would factor big in her upcoming Fall collection. There was a lightweight leather bomber in slate, as well as several jersey looks with a hand-scribbled lace print. Real-deal lace turned up, too, working as an overlay on a pleated party dress. A seemingly simple khaki trench turned around to reveal a complicated crisscross weaving in back. Chung played around with patterns elsewhere, too, to charming effect. A geometric, harlequinlike print in ecru and ballet pink added interest to a flouncy silk blouse and A-line skirt, and an overcoat in a floral pattern she described as Art Deco was the collection's standout piece.
